A word we may have heard over and over again......its meaning understood in different ways - like someone in my group shared - a different perspective to a different person.....When I read this in my sister's office, it left me to think .....how have I understood / practiced humility all this while? Was humility to me merely "being modest or pretending to be modest about compliments, etc"? I guess my limited understanding has left me blinded / narrow-minded in a certain way. While reading this may seem interesting, putting into practice is a totally different ball game altogether.
Mother Teresa gave these rules to her Sisters to help them develop the virtue of humility:
1. Speak as little as possible about yourself.
2. Keep busy with your own affairs and not those of others.
3. Avoid curiosity.
4. Do not interfere in the affairs of others.
5. Accept small irritations with good humor.
6. Do not dwell on the faults of others.
7. Accept censures even if unmerited.
8. Give in to the will of others.
9. Accept insults and injuries.
10. Accept contempt, being forgotten and disregarded.
11. Accept injuries and insults.
12. Be courteous and delicate even when provoked by someone.
13. Do not seek to be admired and loved.
14. Do not protect yourself behind your own dignity.
15. Give in, in discussions, even when you are right.
16. Always choose the more difficult task.
Have a blessed week.......:-)
God Bless.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your efforts. It was good reading.
ReplyDeleteGreat Work & effort Bridget.
ReplyDeleteCalling all facilitators. Please take this as a personal invitation to visit our blog. Share your thoughts, ideas etc. So often we say that we don't have an avenue to network, to fellowship, to get to know each other better. So often we say that we hardly meet. Well here's one of the vehicles where we can just do that. Take this opportunity to share and comment. This blog is not only restricted to the students but to each of us who are called to be members of the ministry. Let's 'light our candle and share our thoughts instead of cursing the darkness and say, "Gee, what is happening to the ministry"'.
Thanks again BA and God bless us all.
